The Audience and The Artist
Performing in front of an audience has something that studio recording can not easily replicate. The energy and the interaction with the crowd is unique. Our goal is to put our knowledge and technology to capture this one-off performance with the highest fidelity.
From theatres to small venues, our portable audio recording studio equipment allows up to record all sort of events.
How is it done?
Analog → Digital
Before the popularisation of digital consoles, there was a need to split analog signals to feed the monitoring console for the performes and FOH console for the PA.
We use the same concept for recording purposes, using Radial microphone splitters with built-in Jensen transformers. One signal goes to the FOH console and exact replica to our microphone Preamps.
Radial transformers offer the widest frequency response (10Hz to 40kHz) and least distortion in the market ( Click the link for more information: Jensen mic splitters ).
Benefits of Audio Transformers in the Recording Process
The microphone level signal from the transformer is then send to our chosen microphone preamps and then to our A/D converters.
Digital → Digital
Depending on the setup and the flexibility in the venue, it might be more convenient to get a digital signal for each channel directly from the console or digital stage box via ADAT or Multichannel Audio Digital Interface (MADI).
Digital Audio Recording
Finally, in order to add redundancy to the system, the capture of the digital audio is done in two ways simultaneously:
- Recording to an external USB hard drive directly attached to the interface unit.
- Via Firewire/USB interface to a laptop as a backup
