Audio Mixing

Mission: Mix the recording to ensure the performance sounds at its best.

Experience, attention to detail and critical listening skills work together to achieve an excellent final mix.

Mixing Room

The SSL Nucleus controller is the mixing room centre piece with 16 motorized faders and analog monitoring section. The configuration flexibility of the Nucleus,  allows the workflow to accomodate to each project without interfering with the creativity process.

The mix is done entirelly in the box (ITB), on an Apple Mac Pro 5.1 with 2 Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors at 2.4 GHz and 32GB of RAM with ProTools.

A pair of MunroSonic Egg 150 monitors serve as the main monitoring system along with a pair of Genelec 8030. They are installed in an acoustically treated room so the speakers are what is heard, not the room.

Acoustics

During the mixing process, is very important to be able to hear all the transients, identify frequency issues and distinguish with clarity the tails of the different elements in the mix.

This is why, in oder to flatten the room response and keep the decay time very low at all frequencies, GIK Acoustics panels and bass traps have been used. Diffusers have also been added at the front wall.
